Meet your Chair

Gloria Melendez
Hello, my name is Gloria Melendez. I was born in Brooklyn, NY, and moved to Rochester in 1984 with my family. I am the mother of six kids and a proud grandma of nine. I am 41 years old, and have been working as an outreach worker for 13 years. For the past three years I have been working at ACHC, where I love it.

There are a lot of challenges being a patient, and also a peer mentor, but it is very rewarding at the end of the day. I am a Leadership Training Institute (LTI) graduate, and was awarded the Senator Novela Peer Educator of the Year Award for upstate New York.

I wanted to get involved with the PAC to encourage women to feel comfortable participating in the committee, and feel free to voice their concerns, because we also have the right to express our voices.

A little about myself; I love elephants and butterflies. I can be a good listener, and always try to keep it real.
