Substance Abuse
AIDS Community Health Center's commitment to its patients is to provide comprehensive HIV and Primary care. In keeping with this model of care, Addiction Prevention and Treatment services are a fundamental part of our concern for you. Huther-Doyle, one of the area's most recognized sources for Substance Abuse programming, provides quality on-site Substance Abuse Evaluation and Treatment programs at AIDS Community Health Center for your convenience.
There is little doubt that living and coping with HIV is stressful. You might turn to alcohol or drugs to cope with issues such as low self-esteem, learning to live with HIV, grieving the death of a partner, dealing with the stigma associated with being HIV positive, or coming out of the closet to your friends and family. All of our services are culturally sensitive to the needs of heterosexual as well as gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender.
Huther-Doyle's on-site programming uses the Motivational Enhancement/Stages of Change treatment protocol. This means you are involved in your recovery and your treatment plan is tailored to your specific needs. Stages of Change treatment recognizes that people DO engage in high-risk behaviors. There may be other pressing problems that also affect your substance use and any reduction in drug related harm is a step in the right direction. The program will help you through the stages of change by identifying and addressing personal issues and life events that may be at the core of your addiction.
